VESTAL (WBNG) — Several groups of student musicians at the Vestal Middle School invited senior citizens for a free hour long concert. They present it during the day because often time seniors may not be able to attend their night performances, so it opens up more opportunity for them to see what the kids are up to. The school says they often get emails after the concert that say how appreciated the free show is, sometimes from former alumni or parents who had their kids in the district. The school has adopted this tradition for 7 years now. “It’s amazing for the kids to be a part of something like this because I always tell them, our purpose is yes to play well, but to also show kindness and bring joy to people,” said 7th/8th grade band director Denise Lacey-Corcoran.
